Bizarre Food's Andrew Zimmern Samples Brains at South County Bar
The Travel Channel show host stopped by Schottzie’s Bar & Grill in Concord Village for a brain sandwich.
Food show host Andrew Zimmern made a stop in St. Louis on March 13, and tried a 'bizarre food' from a South County bar, according to Feast Magazine.
Schottzie’s Bar & Grill in Concord Village was packed with bodies during Zimmern's visit, where he tried a brain sandwich, Feast reports. The spot appealed to him because "something that was hugely popular at the turn of the century, was lost for awhile, but is still celebrated and preserved in places like Schottzie’s," he told Feast.

Those sandwiches used to be available a diners here and there across the region as recently as the 1970's and 1980's. Probably disappeared as the old-timer running the diners died off or sold out. It was also a time of fewer chain food outlets.
