Crestwood Mall Redevelopment Will Not Continue Without Planner

City aldermen did not approve a planner for the project, which is required to move forward in opening a new development at Crestwood Court, according to a report from the Post-Dispatch.

Discussions on a revitalized Crestwood Court were hampered this week after the city's Board of Aldermen declined to approve a planner for the redevelopment project, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports

The board voted last month to appoint Centrum Partners as the site's developer. While aldermen previously expressed interest in moving forward with PGAV Planners for planning services, they tied 4-4 Tuesday night to approve an agreement. Mayor Jeff Schlink did not push the vote through.

One of the functions of the Mayor is to vote to break tie breakers.Mayor Schlink once again shows him self to be the 'cowardly lion of Crestwood' when it comes to making difficult decisions. Maybe he needs to go see the wizard this election time.

Hey John, c'mon man, make a run for it!! We already know when the existing guy can't do. I'm beginning to wonder whether the owners should dump the idea of a large complex and just divide the thing. Another massive retail center seems a non-starter. Perhaps a boutique type hotel to replace the worn-out motel/hotels in the area. That itself will help support some eateries around it. Gotta start thinking out of the box. Crestwood "plaza" is never coming back.

A smaller version of the Kirkwood Road Development in Kirkwood would be a good idea for this site. Apartments above Retail and Entertainment Venues would help to sustain each other. The older residents would like to stay in Crestwood and right now there are very limited choices for them.
