Crestwood Post Office Closing in January

After serving residents in their Crestwood mall location for more than 20 years, the store's two workers will be transferring to Sappington on Jan. 8.

Despite plenty of foot traffic this holiday season, Crestwood Court's second to last tenant, the U.S. Post Office, will be closing in 2013.

"We still do a good business, but the Post Office has just decided to pull us out," employee Andrea Simard said.

Its last day of operation is Jan. 7. Employees were told Dec. 7 in order to notify post office box holders of the change.

The Post Office was open for more than 20 years. Simard has reported to the mall branch for more than 18 years, she said.

"You just watch kids grow up and got to know people. It's kind of like Cheers, you know everybody's name," she said.

Simard and another employee will be moved the Sappington branch at 11662 Gravois Rd. LensCrafters will become the mall's sole occupant.

The future of the mall is still up for grabs. While Crestwood aldermen expressed interest in continuing conversations with mall owner Centrum Partners to redevelop the space, the board recently rejected a project planner.
