Culver's Proposition May Bring Butter Burgers to Crestwood

The Board of Aldermen will hear the building and operational request for the restaurant at 10200 Big Bend Blvd. later this month.

Citizens of Crestwood who crave Butter Burgers and Culver's Frozen Custard may have a more convenient location to get their fix. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Conditional Use Permit to construct and operate the new restaurant at 10200 Big Bend Blvd.

Dale Hellenbrand, who owns two other Culver's Restaurants in the area (Arnold and Eureka) said in his City Petition Letter that his biggest accomplishment is opening his first Culver's before he turned 25. Prior to that he worked for Culver's, therefore in total he's been with the restaurant for almost 15 years.

"Culver's is different because it is not a fast food or a sit-down restaurant. When customers walk into a Culver's the order is placed at the counter, and then they can sit wherever they like and the food is brought out to them," Hellenbrand said.

Proposed operating hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Hellenbrand said that this location may stay open later on Friday and Saturday nights and in the summers, depending on business.

Alderman Darryl Wallach, also on the Planning and Zoning Commission, said that if approved, construction on the Culver's would be about 90 days. There would then be about 15-20 days taken to train the staff.
