The anticipation built around "The Dark Knight Rises" ended up not being the big story surrounding the premiere.
A tragic shooting at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater during the midnight showing of the film ended with 12 people confirmed dead and 50 injured after a gunman wearing a gas mask stood up in the theater and began shooting, according to FOX 2 reports.
Meanwhile, Ronnie's 20 Cine patrons for the Batman film were shocked to hear of the tragedy.
FOX 2 reports a gunman is in custody and he threatened the presence of explosives in his vehicle and home.
