Great Escape: Girl's Night Out
Grab your gal friends and head out on the town for a much needed break.
It's a Friday night and for once, you have nothing to do and no one to take care of. Sound familiar? Probably not.
But maybe the kids are at a sleepover, or your hubby has offered to watch them so you can have some alone time. Our suggestion? Call your girlfriends and head out on the town!
To start, you can head to the Red Lion on Manchester Ave for a couple drinks and some tasty food. Share a 750 bottle of Schlafly Kolsch and start the meal with the restaurant's slider appetizer, with unique options like pork, meatloaf or lamb (and of course the standard beef).
Eat lighter with a salad like the Shrimp Louie as a main course, with diced egg, green onion and Thousand Island dressing. You can also go for the gusto with a Frisco Beef Eater sandwich with roasted green chiles and cheese on sourdough-Parmesan bread.
If neither of those please your taste buds, you can never go wrong with a Soft Cheddar Burger with bacon, BBQ sauce and caramelized onions on a brioche bun.
Remember to relax while you're there and not worry to much about the homefront - this night is all about you!
When you've finished, continue the night close-by at Saratoga lanes on Sutton Blvd for some bowling and more chatting. The upstairs alley also offers a game room if you want to try your hand at pool and a bar.
Saratoga only has eight lanes, so you might consider calling ahead and reserving a lane ahead of time for $25 an hour (includes shoe rental) during the week, $30 on the weekend.
Looking for girl fun closer to home?
Crestwood Bowl has 24 lanes and All-You-Can-Bowl on Fri and Sat for $11 with free shoe rentals. Go to their website for a coupon. Start the night at Malone's Neighborhood Grill and Pub for some Extra Pale Ale micro brews or an Ultimate Margarita. Both the bowling alley and restaurant are on Watson Rd.
