Hangout Hub Emerges at Lindbergh and Watson Road

Sunset Hills didn't waste any time giving the go-ahead to Mile 277 Tap & Grill, and it's well worth it.

A new business venture in Sunset Hills has a lot to offer for those looking for a place to call home—away from home, a place to clinch those business deals, and a place to meet up with family and friends.

Mile 277 Tap & Grill, corner of Watson Road at Lindbergh Boulevard, seems to be the spot to see and be seen.

"There'll always be something going on here," owner Keith Rhodes said Friday.

The hot spot's ribbon-cutting was Friday and included State Rep. Michael Leara, Sunset Hills Mayor Bill Nolan and Alderpersons Scott Haggerty, Pat Fribis and Jan Hoffman.

Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors was there, including Diana Lineberger, Steve Boggeman, Richard Bayers, Marie Davis and Executive Director Mary Ann McWilliams.

Holiday Inn Manager Chris Kreutz was there with his happy and curious 4-month-old daughter Clarice, wishing Rhodes well.

Many who there for the ribbon-cutting stayed to celebrate in the congenial atmosphere, like Chamber members Eric Douglas and Steve Eifler.Douglas took a shot of the menu with his iPhone, sent it to his wife at home, so she could text back what hubby should bring home for her dinner—tacos? Or Asian salad with chicken tenders/nuggets on top? Both good.

The Mile 277 service is generous and easy on the eyes, and the atmosphere—the atmosphere—it just feels like this is where things happen.

The patio is out front where there's plenty to watch, with again, good and friendly service. There's live music inside and outside, a beer tent and a themed jewelry vendor. There's probably more.

The music volume is good for talking, as well as listening to the music.

Inside Mile 277, it feels deliciously cool with plenty of elbow room, thank goodness. With chrome and metal at the bar and a hint of neon blue lighting on a bike floating on a shelf behind the bar, it feels slightly other-worldly—like it's a good thing.

There's one enormous movie-screen size flatscreen TV and 10-20 other medium-sized flatscreens hung around the walls like pieces of art. Most are on different channels—pretty awesome.

Toward evening, there's live music still (and DJ.) There are plenty of tables inside for dining, and plenty of tables for drinks and dancing.

Friday was bustling—before and after the ribbon-cutting event.

Saturday-Sunday is a 2-day benefit for tornado relief in the form of a Bikini Bike and Car Wash, 11am-2pm.

Mile 277 is attached to the Viking Conference Center and Holiday Inn at the location.
