Information for Mugs in the News is provided by the St. Charles County and St. Louis County law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.

You have no clue what the extent of the so-called "severe burn" is. You don't know if she applied first aid at home. You just don't know much of anything, and yet you can't wait to rush to the comments section to insert your ignorant opinion.

She could be the worst human being in the world, but the article doesn't communicate that.

Anyone who burned their child even accidentally wouldn't be smiling in a mugshot. A good parent would be extremely upset and worried. It's a ridiculous photo and the one who suffered was the child.

It's a mug shot, not a party picture...no matter what the conditions of the burns, the mother should look appropriately concerned, whether it is out of concern for her child, or for her own incarceration. Granted, innocent until proven guilty, but her 'mug shot' is ludicrous, Looks to me like she is probably on some form of a drug and oblivious to the reality facing her. I'm with you M. Brock and Scott Simon.

Jaycen Rigger - even if she didn't cause the burns, she's in a police station. It's a serious matter. Who smiles and laughs when they're first-hand directly involved in FELONY charges. Her child is injured. That's a fact unless you want to accuse police and prosecutors of making that up.

What mother laughs and smiles knowing their child is injured? Only ones who commit crimes against them.

Pictures tell a thousand words. Pictures enhance credibility. Bonnie Krueger is right. A mug shot is not a party picture. Jaycen, we really wonder if you have children of your own. Obviously you like her smiling and laughing in jail knowing her child is injured. We now know you approve of her conduct in jail based on your defense of her.
