Sales Tax Holiday Means School Supply Savings

The state's sales tax holiday begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

It’s the perfect weekend to cross off those items on your back-to-school shopping list—Missouri’s sales tax holiday begins midnight Friday.

State and county sales tax will be waived for shoppers on school supplies up to $50, clothing up to $100, and personal computers up to $3,500. Crestwood and Sunset Hills are both waiving their city sales tax this weekend.

The sales tax holiday extends through midnight on Sunday, Aug. 5.

However, not all cities are participating. Brentwood, Des Peres, Fenton, Kirkwood, Maplewood, Shrewsbury, and Webster Groves will still collect a city sales tax, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue website. State and county sales tax will be exempt for these communities.

Find a complete list of exempt items on the Missouri Department of Revenue website. Check out our Back to School guide, and make sure you have a copy of Lindbergh schools supply lists
