Debris from the wind and rain of Sunday night's storm in Oakville caused branches to fall off Baumgartner Road.

Mehlville firefighters responded to double the amount of calls Sunday as a severe thunderstorm broke nine days of 100-degree heat.

No one was injured at an apartment fire at the Swiss Chalet Apartments on Swiss Walk. The cause of the fire was a possible lightening strike, said Deputy Chief Dan La Fata with the Mehlville Fire Protection District.

La Fata said the district responds to an average of 35 alarms per day. Sunday, they responded to 70 alarms, 56 between the hours of 5 and 10 p.m. The majority of the calls were storm-related, including down power lines.

As of 2:40 p.m. Monday, Ameren Missouri reported 78 customers were still without power in the 63126 zip code.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, Ameren Missouri reported 4,028 were without power in the 63129 zip code, 1,940 were without power in 63125 and 1,253 were without power in 63128. Most residents received electricity around 2 a.m. Monday.
