Crestwood Residents Concerned About City's Future Rally On Sappington Road

One woman holds a sign that reads, "Help wanted: Skilled Leaders for Crestwood."

Residents gathered in front of Crestwood City Hall Tuesday in a rally expressing their concern over the city's financial future. Last month, residents were told the owners of Crestwood Plaza would not move forward with their redevelopment plan for the site.

The group of around 70 people was made up of Metropolitan Congregations United members and Crestwood residents.

"Shrinking revenue, reduced staff, unattended maintenance of city streets, parks and buildings, incomplete financial reports, and rejection of a redevelopment plan all signal deterioration and point to a bleak future for the city of Crestwood," according to a release from Metropolitan Congregations United. "These problems cause residents to question the ability of Crestwood’s leadership to retain current businesses, attract new ones, maintain home values, and adequately support the Lindbergh School District, particularly since there appears to be no Plan B for development of the mall site."
