Crestwood Residents to Rally Again, Believe City May Be In For "Bleak Future"

They'll gather in front of city hall before Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting to 'express their worry for the financial future of the city.' Last month, they were told Crestwood Court's owners were ready to withdraw their mall redevelopment plan.

When a group of Crestwood residents gathered along Sappington Road last month to 'stop the stall' on redevelopment of Crestwood Plaza, it was only moments before Mayor Jeff Schlink told a full board room that the mall's owners intended to withdraw their proposal

Those same residents will be in front of Crestwood City Hall prior to Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting to "express their worry for the financial future of the city," according to a news release from Metropolitan Congregations United.

"Shrinking revenue, reduced staff, unattended maintenance of city streets, parks and buildings, incomplete financial reports, and rejection of a redevelopment plan all signal deterioration and point to a bleak future for the city of Crestwood," the release notes. "These problems cause residents to question the ability of Crestwood’s leadership to retain current businesses, attract new ones, maintain home values, and adequately support the Lindbergh School District, particularly since there appears to be no Plan B for development of the mall site."

The rally begins at 6:30 p.m. Subscribe to our daily newsletter to receive updates about the ongoing discussion.
