Rash of Adoptions Brought On by Officer Retirement
Dog rejected for job finds a home; two cats orphaned by death of owner nearly home; Shih Tsz beats them all with shortest shelter stay
A rash of animal adoptions came about with the retirement of Crestwood's Animal Control Officer Suzie Sutton the last day of March.
Sutton reveals that Shep—the dog turned down for police work—has just been adopted to a resident of O'Fallon, Il.
Smokey and Butler—the two cats orphaned when their owner died suddenly—have likely found a home together. There was talk of letting them go it alone to separate families if the opportunities came up, but it looks like they will be staying together in this adoption arrangement.

And a Shih Tzu dog spent no extra time at the shelter, being adopted before he got a photo and description on the adoption web page.
Sutton is scheduled to finish up work today, but city has not named her replacement. There has been a movement afoot to eliminate the city's shelter and replace it with St. Louis County service.
