Here's your daily dose of things to know for Wednesday, Aug. 3.

  1. Alyssa Stahr is your new Sunset Hills-Crestwood Patch editor! After serving Oakville Patch since November 2010, Stahr is ready to sink her teeth into this exciting new territory.
  2. At 4 p.m. the Residential Recovery Task Force meets at Sunset Hills City Hall. A major item on the agenda is a discussion of options presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
  3. The Missouri School PR Association has asked the Lindbergh School District to locally announce the Adopt-an-Eagle program. Joplin Schools and Bright Futures Joplin want to alleviate anxiety on the first day of school by providing each student with a backpack or duffel bag containing supplies needed to start the year. They are asking for $40 donations.
  4. Doron Ofir Casting and Popular Productions, Inc. are casting for "Life, Love and Luxury," a new docu-series featuring the most influential couples in elite society. They are looking for privileged couples in a serious committed relationship. To apply, visit www.elitecouplecasting.com.
  5. To help beat this long summer of heat, enjoy this fun fact: On this day in 1946, Santa Claus Land, the world's first themed amusement park, opened in Santa Claus, Ind.
