A busy week begins today, Aug. 22.

1. The Missouri State Highway Patrol's You Drink & Drive. You Lose. campaign is under way through Sept. 5. Impaired driving contributes to nearly 30 percent of all Missouri traffic fatalities. In 2010, 234 people were killed and 957 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver. Statewide sobriety checkpoints and DWI saturation patrols enforcing Missouri’s DWI laws and keeping impaired drivers off the road are currently under way.

2. The Sunset Hills Historical Society will NOT meet tonight. The next meeting is Sept. 26. 

3. The Missouri Botanical Garden announces its 'Power of Plants' student contest. Illustrate a plant story and your group could win up to $1,500 for you and your school. For more information, click here.

4. On this day in 1902, Theodore Roosevelt becomes the first President of the United States to ride in an automobile.
