1. The St. Louis County Police is hosting a Citizen Police Academy in Valley Park, starting tonight from 7-9 p.m. and on eight consecutive Wednesdays. Graduation will be Nov. 9. The academy is open to all St. Louis County residents and is free. Registration required. For more information, call 314-615-0707.

2. The City of Crestwood Public Works Board will meet at 7 p.m. Public works five year plans, Whitecliff Park service bridge project and the Spellman Avenue reconstruction project are all on the agenda.

3. The Oak Bend Branch of the St. Louis County Library hosts Homeschool Explorations at 2 p.m. The featured artist is Frida Kahlo, and registration is required. For more informaton, call 314-994-3300.

4. The also is having a computer class, Email II, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Registration required.

5. On this day in 1981, Sandra Day O'Connor was unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate as the first female Supreme Court justice.
