St. Louis, September 10, 2012 - Webster University’s annual Homecoming, Reunion and Parents weekend will be held Sept. 28-29 at the Webster Groves campus. The weekend’s signature event is an alumni celebration gala at which Webster alumnus General Lloyd J. Austin III, MA ’89, Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army will be honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award.  General Austin commanded the U.S. Forces–Iraq from 2010 through the completion of Operation New Dawn in December 2011. The semi-formal reception and dinner is being held at Sunset Country Club in St. Louis.

Also being honored is Young Alumni Award recipient Taran Hensley-Hercules, BA’03, president of Mom’s Originals, a gourmet pretzel and specialty gift food purveyor, and Mary Elizabeth Newell Loyalty Award honoree Tim Noelker, BA’73, an attorney with Thompson Coburn, LLP and community leader who has enthusiastically supported Webster University and its alumni for decades.

Another highlight of the gala will be a special tribute to the Sisters of Loretto, founders of Webster University, who are celebrating their 200th anniversary this year.

The weekend activities begin with a carnival that offers rides and activities for everyone!  The weekend also includes a jazz concert with the Bosman Twins, a Hunt Gallery art exhibit featuring the work of alumna Michel L Conroy, a May Gallery reception and photo exhibit highlighting the work of alum Andrea Dylewski and a Webster Conservatory performance of Lillian Hellman’s “The Children’s Hour.”

The annual Alumni and Faculty Authors Meet & Greet takes place on Sept 28, in the Emerson Library.  The authors discuss their works and offer advice on publishing.  Other Homecoming activities include a dance performance, special gatherings for this year’s honor classes (1942, 1947, 1052, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002 and 2007).
