Good weather, good planning, and good arts and crafts at Laumeier Sculpture Park in Sunset Hills made this three-day event a winner in its 24th year. Estimates put total visitors at 15,000 and counting, by Sunday afternoon.
Seventeen prizes and $11,000 were awarded among 150 artists. Sunset Hills Mayor Bill Nolan selected artist-photographer Kavan Geary for the Mayor's Award of Excellence on Saturday. "The colors are just beautiful," said Nolan, owner of a corporate interior design business.
Geary's work included flowers photographed underwater in dramatic lighting. Later, Nolan's wife Mary Nolan bought a piece of Geary's art.
