After Search for New Space, Dance Studio Keeps Roots in Crestwood

A dance studio that once occupied Art Space in Crestwood Court has found a new, permanent space in the community.

Larry Harmon was originally approved last summer to move The Studio 42 to 1157 Reco Ave.

"That building was sold as we were about to move in. So we agreed with the same owner to move into a different building directly across the street" at 1154 Reco Ave., Harmon said during Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting. Parking will be adjacent to the building.

Harmon and his wife, Tracey, offer weekly dance classes and social dance nights for adults. They opened the studio in Crestwood Court more than three years ago.

Dance styles vary from salsa, west coast swing, line dancing, and even zumba. A Friday night dance draws between 80 and 130 dancers, according to previous planning and zoning commission minutes. The space can also be used for special events, according to the studio’s website.

Alcohol will not be sold at the venue, but students will be allowed to “bring a personal amount of alcohol if they choose to do so,” according to city documents.
