Indoor Batting Cages Want Crestwood's OK

All-Star Performance asks for conditional use permit at 1000 Camera Ave., to open up shop.

All-Star Performance, which offers indoor baseball and softball batting cages, wants to open up at 1000 Camera Ave.

Crestwood Planning and Zoning commission will hear the request from All-Star at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Government Center aldermen chambers.

All-Star requires a conditional use permit to proceed. City documents say the business wants to fix up the front entrance, but otherwise use the space as is.

The board will make a recommendation to the city board of aldermen to consider, along with public comments, on June 28.

Public Services Director Jim Eckrich said in documents that he has no objection to the permit.

The board of Planning and Zoning must consider if the business would:

  • substantially increase traffic hazards or congestion
  • adversely affect the character of the surrounding commercial uses or adjacent residential neighborhood
  • substantially increase fire hazards or make difficult access by fire and emergency vehicles
  • adversely affect the general welfare of the community
  • overtax pubic utilities
