Llywelyn's Pub Looks to South County for New Location

Despite persistent rumors, the former Growler's Pub space in Sunset Hills is off the table, owner Scott Kemper told Patch.

Almost as soon as Growler’s Pub closed at the beginning of June, rumors began circulating that Llywelyn's Pub would take over the Lindbergh Boulevard space. It did, after all, make Growler's a name as one of the premiere outdoor beer gardens in St. Louis (though I'm sure the beer selection itself helped).

After a good dozen e-mails and conversations with Sunset Hills residents hoping that the St. Louis chain would join the ranks of O'Leary's, Helen Fitzgerald's and Mile 277, we reached out to management to find out if they would indeed be expanding to South County.

Llywelyn's owner Scott Kemper told Patch they seriously considered the former Growler's, but the location wasn't a perfect fit. For starters, the building would have required an expansion, he said.

The good news?

"We're still diligently looking for a space in South County," Kemper said. Crestwood has been ruled out (due to its proximity to an existing Llywelyn's in nearby Webster Groves), but that site could be here in Sunset Hills, along South Lindbergh Boulevard, or even Fenton.
