The event, which benefits law enforcement charities, will start at 9 tonight at the Mile 277 restaurant in Sunset Hills. (Article updated to reflect accurate start time)

(Note: This article was updated at 2:41 p.m. It incorrectly stated the event began at midnight. The event begins at 9 p.m.)

Throughout this year, in Sunset Hills has hosted the St. Louis Idol Karaoke contest, an event that seeks to raise for the St. Louis Idol’s Line of Duty Fund, a fund used to benefit law enforcement and emergency personnel charities, such as BackStoppers, The St. Louis Police Foundation and the Barwick/Newton Fund.

Tonight at 9 p.m., Mile 277 will be hosting the St. Louis Idol’s final sing off that follows four weeks of preliminary rounds. Each week two contestants advanced until they arrived at this stage of the competition. The winner of the sing off will go on to the Grand Finale this Saturday, April 28th, at Cotter's Sports Bar in South St. Louis.

The music will be provided by DJ Mike Kempf, of Shaggy Sounds DJ Services.

The grand finale participants will compete to become the next St. Louis Idol Karaoke Champion and $1,200 in prize money.

Michael G. McCluskey, executive director of St. Louis Idol, said that  over the course of the past four years, St. Louis Idol has raised approximately $25,000.00 for The BackStoppers alone. He said helping those charities is the only goal of the contest.

“It's the only reason that St. Louis Idol Karaoke exists,” McCluskey said.

I know the vast majority of Crestwood residents, myself included, wanted to see something done withRead More the old mall. It's too bad this is not reflected in our elected officials. I have given up hope. I just wish that I would have bought a house in Webster or Kirkwood rather than Crestwood. In a few years it will be nothing but empty buildings and resale stores while surrounding communities eat our lunch and our property taxes increase. What a shame.

how many meetings did the aldermen have to have just to keep the mall open for mall walkers
