Moving Company Donates More Than $2 Million to Charities in 2012

Two Men and a Truck's Sunset Hills location donated more than $76,000 in moving services last year.

Two Men and a Truck, the largest franchised moving company in the U.S., donated more than $2 million in moving services in 2012, according to a news release from the moving company.

Long known as the "Movers Who Care," Two Men and a Truck locations across the country strive to continuously give back to the communities around them through various community service projects. Franchisee Jason Judson said his St. Louis location donated more than $76,000 worth of moving services in 2012. Judson’s charitable efforts in 2011 won his franchise the system’s Humanitarian award.

“Our community is the reason we wake up every day and come to work. If it wasn’t for our community, we would not have a thriving business and be able to employ so many great people,” he said in the release. “Giving back to the community that makes us thrive is part of our core beliefs.”

Judson’s core beliefs, along with the entire Two Men and a Truck system, support the very way the company came about more than 20 years ago when Founder Mary Ellen Sheets donated her entire profit in her first year of business – $100 to 10 different charities. Today, it gives her great pride to see franchises across the system donating to those who truly need it.

“I cannot convey how proud I am Two Men and a Truck has been able to follow my original intent to be a company that gives back to the community and help others,” she said in the release. “Of course, with our growth, we have a much larger impact today than when we only had one truck!"
