Attention Shoppers: Sunset Hills' Stein Mart is Open for Business

Thursday's opening marked positive change from the Borders departure.

There was a buzz in the air Thursday at The Plaza at Sunset Hills, a welcome departure from the silent Borders building that stood in the corner. Stein Mart celebrated the grand opening of its third St. Louis location, and shoppers seemed delighted to check out new merchandise.

"Typically our clientele is a little bit older, but we've stocked this store a little younger, with designers like Michael Kors and Jessica Simpson," Desiree, Stein Mart's district director, said.

Coinciding with the opening of stores in Irvine, Calif. and Suwanee Ga., the Sunset Hills store seemed to fill a void for some shoppers. South County resident Bonnie Havrilla previously commuted to the Rock Hill Stein Mart store. She's happy that this location is more convenient for her.

"We just happened to be going to PetSmart (which is in the same plaza) and I saw Stein Mart and said 'Thank you, thank you,'" Havrilla said. "I love shopping here so much I would take one of everything. It's fabulous."

Store manager Teresa said that day one traffic was good and they are very happy to be in Sunset Hills.

And overheard by a customer walking out to her car? "That was amazing."
