Sunset Hills Commission OKs Parking Lot Displays for Home Depot

Home Depot on Lindbergh to use part of their lot for seasonal display.

Even though Punxsutawney Phil just predicted six more weeks of winter, Home Depot representatives are looking forward to the spring season.

At Wednesday’s Sunset Hills Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Manager Taylor Reich asked for the space on the lot at 10890 Sunset Plaza for seasonal display. Reich asked for the same area, 44 parking spaces 20 feet from the west side of the building, that they have used for the last two years.

“We have had some great results and sales growth out of the space,” Reich said. “The only change is that we won’t be using the fire lane in front of the garden center.”

City Engineer Anne Lamitola suggested that a multi-year permit should be considered so Reich wouldn’t have to return each year, contingent on the Home Depot manager staying the same. Other members of the board said they would feel more comfortable with management returning yearly.

The space to be used March 1-Nov. 1 was recommended to the Board of Aldermen for approval, which should be heard at the Feb. 28 board meeting.

The Home Depot Store Manager's name is Taylor Reich, not Rich. Please try to get the correct spelling for people's names in your articles. Taylor has done very well in his three years here with his energetic and pleasant management style and has brought real profitability to the Sunset Hills Home Depot store.

Thank you for letting me know Alderman Hardy! I had him spell it for me, but obviously missed the "e" when I was talking to him. I have made the change.
