5 Things You Need to Know for March 10, e.g., Crime, Meeting Cancelled, Louisiana Purchase

1) Starting at 1:30pm former Sunset Hills police officer Christine L. Miller is expected to be sentenced on five felony counts in St. Louis County Circuit Court Div. 10 by Judge Michael Jamison, four 1st-degree manslaughter and one 2nd-degree assault after she pleaded guilty Dec. 16 following a drunken car crash.

2) Transfer students (and their parents) from Truman Elementary school impacted by re-districting to Crestwood Elementary school in the 2011-12 school year are invited to Crestwood Elementary for snacks, a tour and meet Principal Scott Taylor 6 - 7pm. Followed by a brief PTO meeting in the gym, includes free babysitting.

3) Crestwood's Memorial Committee meets at 3:30pm in the Fire Department training room, 1 Detjen, City Hall to discuss "Shop 'n' Save event" according to the agenda. 

4) Crestwood's Board of Adjustment meeting is canceled for tonight, Thursday, after the city canceled the Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday night and canceled the Planning and Zoning Committee last week.

5) Today is the 208th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase signing ceremony in St. Louis, MO that transferred western territory lands from France to the U.S., the 135th anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell making the first successful telephone call saying "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you," and 42 years since James Earl Ray pleaded guilty to murdering U.S. civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis, TN.
