Five (Taxing) Things You Need to Know for March 24

1) The Board of Directors for a new taxing district (CID) weigh approval of a one-percent tax on retail sales in and around the Viking Conference Center. The meeting is 9 a.m. at 1010 Marvilla Lane, which appears to be a house off Conway Road near Spoede.

2) Board of Adjustment meets 7 p.m. in Sunset Hills in City Hall to consider appeals on setbacks for a sports court and addition to a house on Cinema Lane and Deerpath Acres.

3) Elementary School conferences in the Lindbergh district  for Truman school 4-7 p.m., Sappington school 4-8pm, Crestwood, Long  and Kennerly schools 3:30-7:30 p.m.

4) PTO day meeting at Sperreng Middle School, 9 a.m. in the school library.

5) It's the 111th anniversary of New York City groundbreaking on the "Rapid Underground Railroad" (subway) under the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn, 53rd anniversary of rock-and-roller Elvis Presley drafted into the U.S. Army, 10th anniversary of the release of MAC OS X by Apple Inc.
