Flooding Update: W. Watson Open for Biz But Minnie Ha Ha Park Stays Closed

Meramec River recedes enough to remove barriers for traffic, but it's no picnic in the park.

West Watson Road near Gravois in Sunset Hills was opened up Monday afternoon for traffic, after closures due to flooding, city officials said.

Trucks were there Monday and expected on Tuesday to powerwash the road, to clean mud and other debris from flooding.

Any additional rain Monday night could close the road again.

In other local road information, Sunset Hills started the winter season with some 1,500 tons of rock salt to keep snow and ice from freezing on the roads—and is down to 150 tons now.

The city buys rock salt through a co-op agreement with other cities at certain times of the year for winter supplies.
