Patch Picks: Splendid Spas

This week, we pick five local spas specializing in the art of relaxation.

It's officially Spring now, and as the trees bud and the grass recovers from a winter of abuse, you may feel like your body could use some renewal as well. This week, Patch picks five fantastic local spas where you can treat your mind and body to a deeply relaxing massage, facial or pedicure.

  • - 370 Crestwood Plaza, 314-488-1888
Sound Stone specializes in hot stone massages, performed on a deep relaxation table that combines music and vibrations to lull you into a blissful coma of relaxation. Don't be surprised if you are speechless (or asleep) for a few moments after it's over.
  • - 11616 Gravois Road, 314-843-8022
Owned and operated by longtime St. Louis native Jane Gray, Spa Sanctuary is focused on empowering women, both through relaxation (spa) and guidance (workshops). All service are performed by Gray, a life enhancement expert, and include facials, peels body wraps and massages, as well as life coaching and the occasional workshop.
  • Seasons Spa and Salon - 1 Ronnies Plz, 314-842-6500
Seasons celebrated its tenth anniversary earlier this month. In addition to the usual salon services of hair, mani/pedicures and waxing, Seasons also offers facials, massages and body treatments, using warm stones, exfoliating mineral salts, detoxifying seaweed and other exotic body wraps and treatments.
  • Identity Salon and Spa - 5817 South Lindbergh Blvd, 314-892-3636
Identity has a homey, but professional vibe to it. Facials and treatment wraps are named by their purpose rather than their ingredients, making it easier for you to figure out what fits your needs. The spa also offers massages, stone therapy and special occasion makeup.
  • - 11705 Gravois Rd, 314-842-9777
If a massage is all you need—without all the aromatherapy, oils and other concoctions the other spas offer—Sunset Hills Massage is your place. Its six therapists offer a wide variety of techniques, from head (indian head massage, myofacial release and craniosacral massages, to be precise) to toe. They even offer home massage parties, or on-site massages for the whole office.
