Post Office Passport Day is Saturday

If you’re among the many families and individuals busy planning summer vacations or trips, the Postal Service offers this reminder.  Don’t forget your passport.

Passport Day is a quick, easy, and convenient way for people to get passports for those summer vacations to international destinations.  On, Saturday, May 21, 2011, Post Offices across central and northeastern Missouri and central and southern Illinois are hosting Passport Fairs to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.  Customers are advised to check their local Post Office for office hours.

 U.S. citizens must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry.

 “Planning for summer trips and vacations may include applying for passports, said Marketing Manager Loretta Tolliver.

“Families needing passports find Saturday passport fairs offer a convenient, one-stop shop,” she added.  “Mom and dad aren’t at work, the kids aren’t in school, and the entire family can make one trip to the Post Office.”

 Information on the cost and how to apply for a passport book and/or passport card can be found atwww.usps.com/passport/ or travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1.877.487.2778.
