TV Star Models a Seatbelt at Vintage Car Event

Early television star, Howdy Doody, wore a seatbelt for what may have been the first time, since seat belts were uncommon during his 1950s heyday. Doody was silent on the topic.

Hundreds of auto enthusiasts flocked to the monthly car show Friday sponsored by the Memories Car Club of High Ridge at Life Christian Church in Sunset Hills.

Due to the popularity of the monthly event, only cars that were vintage 1970 and older were allowed in the show. At that, there still was a long line of vehicles queued up for entry into the show. Spectators, regardless of the vintage of the vehicle they drove, were funnelled into a separate parking lot.

The Memories Car Club holds the monthly show as a way for car owners to show off their vehicles and raise a little money for charity. Any funds left in the club's account at the end of the year is donated to local charities.
