Lindbergh Students Join Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Young Patients are the heroes at SUNDAY NIGHT Lights

Every day, two classrooms full of kids are diagnosed with childhood cancer. Every day, seven children die from the disease. Students at Lindbergh High School are working hard to raise awareness about childhood cancer through their 4th annual SUNDAY NIGHT LIGHTS football event for children and families enduring the battle of childhood cancer and other life-threatening childhod illnesses.

Lindbergh's Varsity football team, working together with HUNDREDS of fellow students through organizations such as Student Council, Marching Band, Lacrosse, Poms, Cheerleaders, Girls Volleyball, Honor Society, and local church and community groups have been able to successfully capture the magic of high school football and package that experience for this very special goup of guest athletes, their siblings and families.
For one glowing evening, these heroes own the high school turf as football stars, cheerleaders, pom pom girls and marching band members in a game replicated just for them. Everything from the pre-game meal, to play-by-play announcers, to halftime entertainment, to the fans packing the stands, to the thrill of the band and the smells of the hot dogs in the concesion stand is included in one memorable night neighter the players nor the fans will ever forget!
The public in invited to experience Sunday Night Lights with us on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the LHS Flyers Stadium and help us fill the stands for these kids and their families in a showing of hope and support from the community that surrounds them.

Festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. for participants and the Flyers Field opens at 6:15 p.m. to the public for the pre-game festivities and the big game! Attendance is free, donations are accepted and all proceeds go to three local charities that work to provide year-round support and activities for these families: Rainbows for Kids, Friends of Kids with Cancer and Camp Rainbow. If you know of any child or family who might like to participate in this event and for one special day shine on the football fiend as a high school football player, cheerleader, pom pom girls or marching band member, please direct them to www.sundaynightlights.net -- because NO child should fight alone.
