Fresh is best.....I have embarked on the journey of making my own baby food for a few months now. My daughter is 8 months old and loving all her new tastes. See photo for proof!!! Yummmy Bananas and Blueberries
The reasons I have choose to make my own food are cost and quality. If you are making your own food you know all the ingredients that your baby will be getting. I was astonished to learn what a jar of baby food cost...so cost is another major factor. Here is an example. One banana makes 5 oz. Gerber would charge $1.40 for a jar where if you mashed your own $.28....Now that's saving! Another way I have cut cost is to join our local produce coop. I get a basket of fresh home grown fruits and veggies every other week for $22. Here is the link for the one I use:http://www.communityhelpingscoop.com/I love my coop cause they choose the baskets so I try new things I wouldn't normally pick out and the little princess gets a wide variety of tasty foods.
Here are a few tips to remember:1. Always wash your hands and the produce !2. Use the 4 day wait rule when introducing new food to baby...this will give time to notice any allergies. So only one food at a time.
