Department of Economic Development awards $250,000 in Youth Opportunities Program tax credits to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been approved for $250,000 in YOP tax credits.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) recently announced that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri has been approved for state tax credits under the Youth Opportunities Program (YOP).

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been approved for $250,000 in YOP tax credits. The tax credits will be used to expand two of the organization’s youth mentorship programs: 4:1+1 Relationship Model and ABCToday!. At least 2,270 at-risk youth from St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County and Cape Girardeau County will be matched with mentors. Mentoring services provide youth with multiple risk factors develop supportive relationships, improve academic performance and attitudes toward school, and provide necessary education interventions while decreasing delinquency.

The Youth Opportunities Program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides tax credits to organizations administering positive youth development or crime prevention projects.
