Crestwood Wants Public's Help for Top 5 Ways to Spend $5,000—Tonight

A town hall meeting 6 p.m. tonight at Crestwood City Government Center asks residents how they would spend a grant from The Home Depot Foundation.

The City of Crestwood is calling a public forum Tuesday at 6 p.m. to gather residents' ideas on how to spend a $5,000 grant from Foundation—if Crestwood wins one.

The suggestions for projects helps in writing the grant application, and gather volunteers who would likely work on the project if the award came through.

According to city officials, the grants are in the form of gift cards for tools and materials. Resident volunteers would be expected to carry out the work "to improve the physical health of the city."

The top five ideas will be put it to a vote by residents—voting online for a favorite at the city's website and via paper ballots at the .

Whichever project gets the most votes will be written into the application for the Foundation grant, city officials said.

Preliminary suggestions include planting trees, repairing/refurbish community buildings, weatherize low-income housing and improve parks.
