Top 3 Reasons Why Typical American Won't Vote on Election Day

Patch contributor running for Lindbergh Board of Education in Tuesday's election, where there are six candidates for three seats.

It is just a few short hours before Election Day, April 5.  Did you  remember that, and make plans to fit voting into your schedule tomorrow, Tuesday?

The polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Here are the top three reasons the majority of people don't vote—especially in an April election—and why you should ignore those reasons.

Reason #1:  Bad Weather. LOOK at the forecast—rainy weather today, but likely good weather tomorrow, on Election Day.

Reason #2:  Not much is on the ballot. EXACTLY! So there will be no lines to wait in and you can breeze in and out on your lunch break, at the very least. Otherwise, if you are a morning person, it's before work (6 a.m. poll opening) and after work  if not (7 p.m. closing.)

Reason #3:  My vote doesn't really count. WRONG. Remember Florida, the recount, butterfly ballots and hanging chads? Remember what happens when only one side turns out in an election?

The weather excuse is ridiculous. Anyhow, it's great outside. I just walked a half mile to my polling place in shorts and a t-shirt.
