Door-to-Door Scam: 'Neighbor' Asking Crestwood Residents for Cash

A man has also hit homes in Sunset Hills, Town & Country and Rock Hill claiming to be a neighbor in need of money.

A man claiming to be a neighbor in need is still asking residents for cash.

The man sometimes goes by the name Charles Edward, according to Crestwood Police Deputy Chief Frank Arnoldy. The story is the same each time: the man says he and his wife were involved in a car accident, and he needs money to retrieve his car from impoundment. He's collected from $20 to $100 from several residents in Crestwood and Sunset Hills in the past month. The latest reported incident was on June 10 in Crestwood. The resident gave the man $90, according to police.

The suspect also hit homes in Town & Country and Rock Hill, Sunset Hills Police Chief William LaGrand said.

LaGrand encourages residents who encounter the man to report the incident to police.
