Lindbergh Schools Teacher Accused of Having Relationship With Student

A male teacher at Sperreng Middle School, in Sappington, was taken into custody on Tuesday. Charges have not been filed, though St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports he is being held for statutory sodomy.

A Sperreng Middle School teacher who was taken into police custody on Tuesday is being held by St. Louis County Police for statutory sodomy, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

[Editor's note: James Wilder was charged Wednesday with six counts of second-degree statutory sodomy. Please see our updated story.]

KMOV reported that the male teacher is accused of having a long-term sexual relationship with a student that began in 1996, though "it is unclear whether the two met at Sperreng where the teacher is employed."

St. Louis County Police spokesman Randy Vaughn told South County Times that the victim was a high school student 'at that time.'

The teacher is now on administrative leave, according to Post-Dispatch
