Toll Stoppers Will Benefit BackStoppers

A charitable toll road this weekend will raise funds for the organization.

Crestwood Fire and Police Departments will be sponsoring a fundraising toll road at Watson and Sappington Road this weekend.

From 10-11:30 a.m. June 30 and July 1, members of the Crestwood public safety teams will be hosting the toll stop to support BackStoppers, an organization that aids families of first responders killed in the line of duty.

BackStoppers is based in St. Louis and has been supporting families in Missouri and Illinois since 1959.

"Everyone hopes that it will never need to be used but it is important to the responders to know that their families will be taken care of," said Crestwood Police Deputy Chief Frank Arnoldy. "We all hope that we never need it."

Arnoldy said donations are always optional at the annual toll stop.
