Crestwood Sewer Lateral Fund Expenditures Decreased in 2011

Policy modifications in 2010 resulted in a substantial decrease in 2011 expenditures.

Each May, the director of public services is required to provide a status report of the Sewer Lateral Fund. Current director James Eckrich fielded questions regarding the fund status at this week's Board of Aldermen meeting.

The policy funded 45 repairs in 2010, 51 in 2011 and 16 thus far in 2012. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen took action in 2010 to revise the policy in an effort to reduce expenditures. Modifications included increasing the number of cablings required prior to a city investigation and eliminating final grading and seeding. The changes resulted in a decrease in 2011 expenditures, thus starting to reestablsh the fund balance.
