Mayor Jeff Schlink is looking for help.

New Crestwood Mayor Jeff Schlink moved ahead in posting a job description to hire a new city administrator—the top staff job in city government—after Jim Eckrich back as Public Services Director, and got it.

Eckrich said: "It is best for everybody" on his way out the door as top administrator when won the election for mayor over incumbent Roy Robinson April 5 by a nearly 2 -1 margin.

While this job posting lists no specifics on salary, Eckrich made over $100,000 a year and was provided with a car as city administrator.

"City Administrator for the City of Crestwood

Position Summary: The City Administrator is responsible to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the general administration of city business. The City Administrator supervises all city departments; creates yearly general budgets, including a 5-year capital improvement replacement program and a personnel needs program; provides financial and administrative reports to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen; oversees the implementation of legislation passed by the Board of Aldermen; administers personnel, including the creation of pay plans and enforcement of the city’s civil services rules; makes recommendations to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to ensure the successful operation of city business.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in financial planning and budgeting 
  • Experience in negotiating, preferably in field of commercial development and vendor contracts 
  • Knowledge and understanding of tax abatement options and issues
  • Experience managing personnel
  • Grant-writing experience preferred but not essential
  • Experience complying with rules and regulations
  • Ability to be discreet/handle confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press/media
