Jake Franzel Honored by City of Crestwood

Franzel, who lost his battle with bone cancer last month, was recognized for dedication and public service.

senior, Jake Franzel, lost his three-year battle with bone cancer Jan. 27.

Not only was Franzel a fighter in his own life, he also fought for the lives of others by bringing attention and raising funds for causes in his community such as Friends of Kids with Cancer, St. Baldrick's Foundation and Camp Rainbow. He also showed community leadership when "Jake's Crew" was founded to join in the fight.

At Tuesday's City of Crestwood Board of Aldermen meeting, Franzel was publicly recognized and offered the City's gratitude and appreciation for his brave and noble fight.

Breaking protocal, instead of Mayor Jeff Schlink reading Resolution No. 11-08, Alderman Chris Pickel, who coached Franzel, was granted his request to read the resolution.
