New Mayor Looks for Some Help On Citizen Advisory Boards with Appointments

Crestwood gets a changeup since former mayor's departure.

Crestwood Mayor Jeff Schlink proposed his aldermanic appointments to the city's citizen advisory boards and commissions for the coming year, in a memo for the upcoming Board of Aldermen meeting, Tuesday.

"Following are the appointments that I plan to make," Schlink said in a memo to the city clerk, for inclusion in the meeting documents.

Aldermen Paul Duchild, Jerry Miguel and Darryl Wallach would be moved up to key advisory committees dealing with the city's finances, planning and zoning, and police.

Those three aldermen seemed to be in sync with Schlink when he served as alderman—before his election to mayor in April, ousting incumbent Roy Robinson.

The newest alderman, Steve Knarr is an unknown quantity to some, since he said nothing official at his second Board of Aldermen meeting, and asked only a brief question when he was first sworn in at the prior meeting.

Schlink recommended Knarr for the Fire Board, and Business License Review Board.

Aldermen John Foote, Debra Beezley, Chris Pickel and Mimi Duncan (aldermen board president) would move to the citizen advisory boards listed below. This group of four rejected the mayor's first appointment of his office to replace himself in Ward 2 with former Crestwood police officer Doug Mosby. They then recommended and installed Knarr.

Schlink's appointments:

Ways & Means Committee: Aldermen Wallach and Duchild (moving from Parks board)

Planning & Zoning: Alderman Wallach

Police Board: Alderman Miguel

Sign Commission: Alderman Wallach

Business License Review Board: Alderman Knarr

Animal Control Board: Alderman Beezley (moving from police board)

Fire Board: Alderman Knarr

Disabled Citizens Advisory Committee: Alderman Foote

Public Works Board: Alderman Foote

Veteran's Memorial Committee: Alderman Foote

Park Board: Alderman Pickel

Economic Development Commission: Alderman Duncan

The city has eight aldermen, two representing each of four wards, plus a mayor elected at large.

The next Board of Aldermen meeting is Tuesday, July 26, 7pm in Government Center.
