Proclamations, Volunteer Appointments Made in Crestwood

The Board of Aldermen appointed several volunteers to city boards and commissions.

The Board of Aldermen has proclaimed three weeks in May as special weeks in the community. May 20-26 is now Public Works Week. According to Proclamation No. 12-04 public works services provided in the community are an integral part of the citizens’ everyday lives and “the health, safety and comfort of this community greatly depends on these facilities and services.”

May 20-26 has been proclaimed Emergency Medical Services Week. The department of fire services responds to nearly 900 medical calls per year, and according to Proclamation No. 12-05, this year’s theme is “EMS: More than a Job. A Calling.

Lastly, May 13-19 is now Police Week and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. In Proclamation No. 12-06, Mayor Jeff Schlink said that it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards and sacrifices of their law enforcement agency. Members of our law enforcement agency should also recognize their duty to serve the people by safeguarding life and property.

The Crestwood Market Community Improvement District saw six people appointed unanimously as directors: Greg Yawitz, Tina Flowers, Tim Hogenkamp, Gary Grewe, Bill Appelbaum and James Eckrich.

Three Crestwood residents also were unanimously appointed to committees. Schlink said board members usually know each other and are known by the public due to their service on various boards. However, oftentimes the residents who are being recommended for appointment aren’t known as well, so he asked them to attend the board meeting for face and name recognition.

Matt Daher is an attorney who lives in Crestwood with his wife and three kids. He was appointed to the Board of Adjustment. Robert “Beau” Profit has lived in Crestwood for almost 3 years with his wife and three children. He is a director of sales and recently had interest in the goings on in the municipality. Due to his interest in taking part of the civic process, he was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Ed Pennington works in the insurance industry and his interest is a sense of commitment that economic vitality is a critical part of any healthy community.  He is the newest member of the Economic Development Commission.
