State Rep. Mike Leara Takes On History Buffs in Sunset Hills

Historical Society hosts, at the city's Community Center May 23, 7PM.

State Rep. Mike Leara (R-District 95) takes on the the Sunset Hills Historical Society Monday, May 23 at 7 p.m. in Sunset Hills.

There was no set agenda for Leara's meetup at the Society's monthly meeting. It is open to the public.

Leara represents the residents of Sunset Hills , Crestwood, Fenton, Grantwood Village and Concord Village. The meeting is in the Community Center 3915 S. Lindbergh Blvd., just behind City Hall.

As a little background on Leara—a Republican, he was first elected to the statehouse in 2008, according to the Missouri House of Representatives website. He's a financial advisor/consultant who got a start with Merrill Lynch and since 1999 has had his own business based in the Sunset Hills area, Gateway Advisors, LLC.

Leara attends Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, according to information from his campaign website. He graduated in 1978 from Southwest High School. He and his wife Patra Leara have four children.

Rep. Leara's website bio describse his political start in 1997 as president of Concord Township Republicans, and appointment as GOP Committeeman of Concord Township in 2003. He was finance chair and treasurer of the St. Louis County GOP.

The Sunset Hills Historical Society meets next on Sat., June 11 at the Watson Trail Park pool. The Herb Eberle German Band will perform. German food and Ted Drewes custard will be available for purchase.
