Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen Hear Sansone Group’s Request in Tuesday’s Meeting

Mayor Nolan and the Board of Alderman hear developer's request and approve ordinances in last night's meeting.

Sunset Hills’ Mayor Nolan and the Board of Aldermen heard a request by Jim Sansone of the Sansone Group, a St. Louis-based full service commercial real estate firm, to modify the city’s comprehensive plan for the area of Court Drive and West Watson Road affected by last year’s tornado.

The group is hoping to change the current zoning codes only allowing single-family homes to permit commercial and senior housing developments. The group will partner with A.J. Borzillo, Inc., a St. Louis-based custom home and commercial builder to construct the future properties.

Sansone said he believes his group has the most experience and best resources to complete the project in timely manner. Furthermore, Sansone told the board his group is in contact with several interested retailers. The addition of retailers will bring sales tax and revenue to the city.

The community’s Residential Recovery Task Force, a group of citizens who wants to keep the area as residential, only supports a plan to build attached housing structures like condominiums in the area. The Sansone Group will present its plans for the area at the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Nov. 2.

The board also approved several ordinances in the meeting including redefining wards three and four and amending speed limits on certain streets in the city. There also was an agreement reached to change the picture on the city’s newsletter to feature local businesses and government and recreational buildings.
