Classmates Rally Around 3-Year-Old Diagnosed With Leukemia

Students at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education wore pink crowns and shirts to support Campbell Crask, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Boys and girls in the Gator classroom at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education donned pink crowns March 13 to show their support for classmate Campbell Crask, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia, according to a news release from the Lindbergh School District.

Campbell’s family learned of their 3-year-old daughter’s diagnosis on Halloween 2012, when she came down with "what appeared to be a harmless tummy ache," according to the release.

Since then, the Crasks’ friends and family have rallied to support the family through their journey of hospital visits, chemotherapy, missed work days and mounting medical bills. Campbell will undergo treatment for the next two and a half years, according to Lindbergh Schools.

“A special group of my girlfriends wanted to help Campbell and our family in any way they can,” Campbell's mom, Tannin, said in the release. “They organized an event in her honor.... Since Campbell is ‘all girl’, they knew a pink princess crown would be the most appropriate symbol for her logo.”

T-shirts were created and sold at the benefit in January, and Campbell gave out extra shirts on Valentine’s Day to her classmates and teachers at Lindbergh ECE. The students in her Lindbergh family decided to wear their shirts March 13 to support Campbell, who was undergoing chemotherapy that day, according to the release.

“We can't say enough wonderful things about Ms. Susan, Ms. Morgan and the entire administrative staff at LECE,” Tannin said. “They have made and continue to make this challenging time a little easier with their flexibility and support for helping Cam’s time spent at school be as healthy and positive as it can.”
