Crestwood Elementary Facelift Ongoing

The front courtyard is under construction to update its mid-century look.

At Crestwood Elementary School on Sappington Road, the process of ripping out big trees, bulldozing the front courtyard and installing new metal structures has taken three months so far.

The Lindbergh School District has added on classrooms and is renovating the majority of its schools in preparation for the new school year 2011-12 starting Aug. 16, after a second middle school is to be opened up in the district. Changes also include a re-districting of elementary-age students among five schools—Crestwood, Sappington, Long, Kennerly and Concord. Middle schools are to be Sperreng and Truman. There is one pre-K facility known as ECE, and one high school, Lindbergh.

The district renovations were funded by Prop R passed by voters in 2008, to eliminate crowding as enrollment increased in the well-regarded Lindbergh district.
