Lindbergh Briefs: Hockey Cheerleaders Take First Place, Student Attend WashU Health Professions Fair

Saturday Scholars Visit Health Professions Fair 

Several Lindbergh High School students participated in the Health Professions Fair at Washington University School of Medicine earlier this month. They were among 160 select students in St. Louis who were chosen to participate in the first portion of the prestigious Saturday Scholars Program this year.

Students participating in the Health Professions Fair include Alexandra Adkins, Stephanie Barrett, Rexhian Brisku, Gianna Caruso, Nick Everding, Aly Fridley, Maggie Murphy, Michele Tucker, and Alexandra McLeod and Christien Renick. They are with Dr. William Ross, nephrologist and instructor at Washington University School of Medicine.

Long Students Star in Peter Pan  

Long Elementary School fourth graders Annie Hogan and Kiley Sorbello will appear in the Shrewsbury Community Theater production of “Peter Pan,” March 7-10. Annie will play the part of Smee and Kiley will be one of the lost boys. Tickets may be purchased for $8 by calling 314-647-1003.

Hockey Cheerleaders Win First Place – Twice! 

The Lindbergh Hockey Cheerleaders brought home two first place trophies Feb. 16-17 in the annual Midstates Hockey Cheerleaders competition. The girls placed first in cheer and chant categories, and also earned a fifth-place trophy in the dance competition.

FBLA Rocks Districts

Lindbergh High School’s Future Business Leaders of America brought home a handful of top finishes from the FBLA district competition in February. More than 500 students competed, and first and second place winners will compete at the state level in April. Sponsor Kristin Drinen says this is the club’s best year ever!

First place finishers include Ariana Ha, business communications; Maggie Murphy, healthcare administration; and Isobo Amaso and Mitch Arends, banking and financial systems. Second place finishers include Lizzie Woods, business law; Kelsey Horan, intro to business; Kejsi Petova, intro to business communications; and Maggie Murphy, word processing II.

In addition, Lindbergh had two third-place winners, four fourth-place, and one sixth-place.

Sperreng Student Wins Essay Contest 

Congratulations to Sperreng Middle School sixth-grader Kara Weiss, who took third place in the state in the Get the Message Out essay constest, sponsored by the Gifted Association of Missouri. Kara’s essay was titled “Success Street – The Path Gifted Students Take."
