Lindbergh High School Boys Cross-Country Team Receives First-Ever Recognition

Young athletes making a difference at their school are named Team of the Week.

After members of the Lindbergh High School boys cross-country team donated their time to upgrade the school’s track and field area, they were named the school’s first-ever Team of the Week.

Lindbergh Schools Community Relations Director Beth Cross said that on Aug. 26, the team headed to the track and field and cleaned up the landscaping. They also raked, shoveled and placed new rock around the large “L” that decorates the field.

The “L” was also later painted by a Lindbergh Schools employee, which Cross said provided a nice facelift for the entire area.

“The Lindbergh track was updated and resurfaced last spring, so giving the L a fresh look really helped pull everything together,” Cross said. “Many LHS alumni probably remember the L. It has been on the hill by the track for as long as anyone around here can remember.”

Athletic director Mike Slyman will give the cross-country team its special recognition.

Cross said Slyman will also present a new Team of the Week recognition each week for teams “that show pride in the school and who do things to help make LHS a better place to learn and play.”
